Spadeadam MC Soapbox Derby – 2015

By Barry Lindsay

The Spadeadam Soapbox event goes well back in the history of SMC. Despite a 8 year layoff 10 competitors lined up at a new hill near Penton. 7 Adults and 3 juniors would all enjoy an afternoon of smiles & laughs along with fear and butt clenching moments.

Fastest after 2 practice runs the 3 timed runs saw Neil Thomlinson have the best time of 53sec.

In 5th was Kieron Stynes who got a slim advantage over his dad, Kieron getting 1m 00 while Jon on 1m01. Using the same Kart John Ross squeezed his legs into the tight frame to also get 1m01.

In the juniors all using a chain-less pedal kart. Martyn Petry came victorious after a very close battle with Graham Petry, Graham had led after the first timed run, but Martyn got it on his last run.
