The Indoor autotest is famous, or maybe infamous, in the Spadeadam calendar. It’s a combination of Richard Thomson’s excellent courses, Skitby’s amazingly slippery floor and a remote control Mini that refuses to go where you want it to. I’ve been a “spectator” at this club night many times and have always managed to avoid taking part, but this time I thought to myself, “well, how hard can it be?”. If you look at the results below, you’ll see how hard I found it!One thing you notice as a spectator, are all the different driving styles:
Mark Taylor managed to cross the finish ramp sideways.
David Love went for a very careful (slow) approach.
George Edminson went for fast & furious, with cups flying everywhere.
Kenton Pattison, Neil Thomlinson & Richard Thomson, all seemed to go for the “lets make this look as effortless and easy as possible” approach.
Me? I think it’s best not to mention the approach I took. Though the comments / heckling about “women drivers” added at least a few minutes to my time!
Thanks to Richard Thomson for organising it, and everyone that came.
1st Neil Thomlinson 5th David Love
