On August 4th Spadeadam hosted ‘The North East and Cumbrian Motor Club’s get together’. We invited EMMU rescue unit to show us some of what they can do.
A few folk made it over from the North East. The holiday season had an impact on the number attending, but most people there found the evening interesting and entertaining. EMMU concentrated on accessing a car rather than the medical side of things and quickly managed to reduce one of the club’s autotest cars into a topless, side less vehicle. Some of the spectators also had a chance to have a go with some of the power tools.
Chris prepared a super buffet – judging by the empty plates it was enjoyed by everyone (well everyone who got to the table on time!!!!!!)
EMMU have expressed thanks to SMC for inviting them along. Thanks should also go everyone who supported the event especially the club members who gave up their own time to prepare both the car and the venue, Barry for his excellent introduction to the evening, and thanks also to Tim Finch who sponsored the evening.
On a more serious note, Skitby had some more visitors later that night who obviously found it entertaining to destroy the car further and cause a great deal of mess and work for others.
Due to the actions of these imbeciles, the relatively quick and easy task of loading and removing the car became a lengthy and difficult job. As, all 4 tyres had been slashed and the rear screen smashed with broken glass scattered around the patio area.
The club members who had volunteered to move the car then spent a great deal of their own time cleaning up after this group of idiots.
A sickening end to what had been a successful evening.
